Carrot Juice

Three weeks ago, my husband went out and came back with a juicer. I'd made a comment in the supermarket about all the fruit juices being packed with preservatives and how it would be better to juice our own, and he went out and bought a juicer. We tried it out - a bunch of cherry tomatoes followed by one apple - and put it away. And there it started to gather dust. Determined to use it, we bought a pile of apples, carrots, tomatoes and a cucumber on Saturday, and when the fruit juice in the fridge ran out, I started to juice apples ... but I need 1.5 apples for my breakfast juice and they soon ran out. So this morning I tried carrot.

I'm not a huge vegetable fan. If I was, I might be able to give up eating meat. A bit of cauliflower, some broccoli, peas and sweetcorn. Maybe a cucumber or some pickled beetroot. Raw carrots are ok, if they're fresh and sweet and not too bitter, but cooked carrots remind me of the gas we used to get at the dentist. One whiff and I heave. I do understand the goodness they contain, though (apart from removing all the fibre in the juicing), and forced myself to drink the juice. It was ok-ish. A bit watery. Just not breakfast material. So while my eyes may improve today, I'll have to make do with half a glass of apple juice tomorrow as we only have one apple left.

This week, and last if I'm honest, have been very ill-disciplined. I'm eating too much, getting to bed too late, not getting on with any work, therefore not earning anything, spending money I'm not earning, and faffing continually on the internet and with pc games. I don't know whether to have done with it and write today off too, or see if I can't find something, anything, to be getting on with. Maybe a cuppa while I peruse.

Revelation of the week: carrot juice stains.
